Timing. Don’t just work out the drive time. Work out what the team needs at the other end and build the departure around that. Arriving with twenty minutes to spare isn’t the same as having an hour. If the ground is unfamiliar and there’s a warm-up to do, factor that in before you set a pick-up time.
The return. Book it at the same time. Trying to sort a return journey after a difficult result, everyone’s cold and the adrenaline has worn off, is a conversation nobody wants to have standing in a car park. Sort it upfront and it’s done.
Regular fixtures. If the team has a full away schedule for the season, ask about a standing arrangement. Booking individually each week is fine but a regular setup tends to be simpler and can work out better on price. Worth asking about early.
